About the area

3,500 sq ft of outdoor play area is located directly behind the Play Space and offers a private, setting created for young children birth to age 6. The area is enclosed with perimeter fencing for privacy.

Features include an embankment slide, water play, mud kitchen, gravel pit with construction vehicles and an art wall. The Traffic Garden, a project of the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the Kids’ on Wheels Program is a figure eight trike track for practicing cycling skills and safety techniques for beginner bikers. This area will have very specific open hours within the Play Space regular open hours time frame.

In addition, there is a special picket fenced area exclusively for babies and newly walking toddlers called the Baby Garden. The space was designed so that caregivers can feel comfortable placing their baby on a soft ground and letting them explore and experience nature in the safety of their own area.

The outdoor area is an extension of the indoor Play Space and accessible only through the main front entrance of Play Space during regularly scheduled hours. It is not a public outdoor play area.  The guidelines for play at the Play Space apply to both the outdoor and indoor areas.

Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s supervision and safety.
